In a dramatic day of racing where Boris Shpilevsky (Russia) was assured victory in this years Tour of Hainan, a monumental blunder occurred when Shpilevsky made a wheel change with the Nutrixxion Sparkasse team, causing him to receive a two minute penalty for irregular mechanical assistance with another team.  Francisco Ventoso (Carmiooro A-Style) was therefore moved from second on GC to first overall.

Asia's third 2HC race came into the horizon when 135 riders took to the start of the fourth and thus far most celebrated edition of the Tour de Hainan in China from November 11 to 19. It took just four years since its inaugural edition was won by Russian Sergey Kolesnikov in 2006 for this race on the picturesque South China Sea resort island of Hainan to gain and progress into Asia's third 2.HC status race, following in the footsteps of Le Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia and the Tour of Qinghai Lake on the Chinese mainland.

IRAN'S Tabriz Petrochemical Team picked up right where they left off last season when they opened the 2009-2010 UCI Asia Tour season in style.

  The 2008-2009 UCI Asia Tour champion team dominated the first two races of the season, with 28-year old Mehdi Sohrabi taking overall victory after six stages of the Tour of Milad du Nour and his 35-year old veteran teammate Ahad Kazemi Sarai winning the Tour of Azerbaijan. Both races were on the team's home soil in Iran.

The Asian riders and national cycling teams, most surprisingly, had made marvelous jobs at the UCI Track World Cup held at Beijing from 22nd through 24thJanuary, the No.4 events of the 2009-2010 UCI World Cup series by clutching 7 gold medals out of the 17 specialties competed at the Cup.

Under a UCI Solidarity Program, 4 Road Bikes will be donated to each of DPR Korean, Sri Lankan and Vietnamese Cycling Federation in 2010.

The UCI initially chose those NFs in consultation with the ACC. Significant thing with this arrangement is that the North Korea, in particular, was selected as one of those receiving cycling federations by the ACC. North Korean Cycling Team composed of 2 riders and 2 officials is expected to attend the 2010 Asian Cycling Championships for the 1st time since the 2005 Asian Cycling Championships in Luthiana, India.

Mr. Vatche Zadourian, President of the Lebanese Cycling Federation and Chairman of the ACC Para-Cycling Committee was honorably elected as a member of the Lebanese Olympic Committee (LOC) in March 2010.
