The 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games kicked off Saturday with two early medal events, Traditional Wrestling and Ju jitsu, followed by the much-anticipated Opening Ceremony on Sunday.

Hosted in Turkmenistan’s capital city, Ashgabat, the exciting 12-day multi-sport event sees thousands of elite athletes from 65 delegations across Asia and Oceania, including a refugee team, competing for a total of 347 medal events.

With 21 sports on the schedule, Ashgabat 2017 will have one of the most diverse ranges of sports in traditional Olympic, non-Olympic and Asian sports.

Mr. Cho Hee Wook ACC President, was decorated with the Royal Honour by His Majesty the King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The Honour named Direkgunabhon was presented to him in Bangkok on 11th August, 2009 by the Thai Vice Prime Minister Sanan Kajornprasart.

During the 178 Congress and the new Management Committee of the International Cycling Union (UCI), Mr. Cho, Hee Wook, ACC President was elected for the post of the UCI Vice President for the first time ever in the 50 years� history of the Asian cycling sport.

Mr. Cho, Hee Wook, ACC President, together with Mr. Choi, B.W. the Secretary General, was decorated with � Certificate of Citation and Appreciation� by the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The citation was awarded to them in Indonesia during the ACC Management Committee by the Representative of the Iranian Cycling Federation.

ACC Management Committee (MC) was held at Hotel Bumi Senyiur, Samarinda, Indonesia on 14th Aug, 2009 at 2 p.m. during the 2009 Asian Cycling Championships in Indonesia.

Starting from 2009, the Organizing NFs for the annual Asian BMX or Indoor Cycling Championships will be awarded with USD 500 as one of the gestures to encourage their (its) effort and contribution toward organization of the said Championships and promotion of both cycling disciplines in Asia as well.
